We are very pleased to have Dr. med. univ. Michael Schenk on board, another fertility expert, who is available to us with advice and support on all topics related to fertility and pregnancy. Together with his wife Claudia, he has been running the Kinderwunschinstitut Dr. Schenk in Dobl, Styria, for more than 24 years and has helped countless desperate couples fulfill their wish to have a child after all.

Reason enough to ask him about his top 5 tips for getting pregnant faster. In any case, we are already curious.

Tip 1: Get professional help early on

If it doesn’t work out right away, that’s no reason to worry. However, you and your partner should not wait too long and have a reproductive health checkup done in time to be on the safe side and make sure that everything is in order from a purely biological point of view. As a rule of thumb, you can remember that you should seek medical advice after 12 months if you are under 35, and after 6 months if you are over 35.

Tip 2: Consciously take time with your partner for intimacy away from the pressure of “having to” get pregnant

Make sure that despite the stress you put on yourselves, you don’t lose the joy of sex. Of course, it can kill the pleasure factor a bit if you literally put a clock on when and on what days you should have sex, so try to continue to enjoy sex and not just see it as a “means to an end.” If you want to know in more detail how often you should have sex to get pregnant, we recommend this blog post.

Tip 3: Find relaxation and distraction

Instead of always focusing on what’s not working right now, look to find distraction and relaxation. This looks different for everyone, so maybe spending time in nature or doing sports will help you. If you can manage it, you can also start thinking about what it will mean for you to be a mother. For example, you can read books on the subject or start planning what the nursery will look like.

Tip 4: Pay attention to a healthy lifestyle

Even if it is already pretty clear to you, we would like to remind you once again that a healthy diet and sufficient exercise are the be-all and end-all on your childbearing journey. Pro-tip: Tailoring your workouts to your cycle will definitely boost your well-being as well.

Tip 5: Hang in there

What was that saying again? Fall down seven times, get up eight? The process of having your dream child can be a long one, whether you try to conceive naturally or resort to aids like IVF. Try not to be too hard on yourself and be patient. As with so many things, the journey is the destination and not giving up or losing your optimism. However, if you are struggling with this and don’t know what to do, there is no shame in getting professional help and talking to a therapist about your feelings and fears. You’re not alone ❤️.
