My femSense experience: a user shares her femSense success story

Young jouyful couple with pregnancy test

Hello Julia, thank you for taking the time for our interview and in particular for being willing to share your story with other femSense users.

No problem. I am delighted to be in a position where I can help other women. We have such a taboo about talking about trying to conceive, not telling anyone we are trying until we are 3 months pregnant, when we could be supporting and advising each other. I am telling my story in the hope that some other women might relate to it and will find femSense sooner!

Maybe you´d like to start by telling us a little bit about yourself?

Sure, my name is Julia, I am 30 years old and live with my husband in a suburb of Vienna. My husband and I have been together for 6 years, married for 2. Shortly after we married we left the city and moved to the suburbs, we have always wanted a family and that was the first step in our long term plan.

You have been planning a family for a while then?

Well, kind of. After we got married we decided to start trying to get pregnant straight away, I had heard it could sometimes take a while but never really gave it much thought. I stopped taking the pill and figured I´d get pregnant fairly quickly. I had spent most of my adult life trying not to get pregnant, how hard could it be!

That must have been an exciting time for you.

Yes and no. I was really excited for the first few months, I went out and bought pregnancy tests and pregnancy vitamins – I couldn´t wait to be pregnant! But every month the test was negative and my period came. I was getting really frustrated, I was doing everything right but it just wasn´t working. That went on for about 6 months; after a while you start to wonder if something is wrong.

What do you think was the problem?

It seems so simple now when I look back, but at the time I guess I was just too naïve. I always thought, you have sex – you get pregnant. I had never given any thought to my cycle, fertile days or ovulation, I had been on the pill since I was 16 and had never had to deal with it. I knew the basics from school biology but that was so long ago. I had no idea what was going on with my body if I´m honest.

What did you decide to do when it wasn´t happening?

After about 6 months we decided to look for help. We were obviously doing something wrong. We started in the internet – where else. Firstly, we looked for digital solutions, a period tracker, but because my cycle wasn´t always 28 days that alone wasn´t going to help us. Then we checked out ovulation tracking methods which involved temperature measurement, observing cervical mucus, peeing on sticks etc but they were too complicated and involved. We were looking for something much more straightforward and easy to use.

And then you found femSense.

Ha ha, exactly! Then, thankfully, we found femSense. I liked the idea of a cycle tracker, I always have my phone with me so it makes sense and in combination with the sensor patch it sounded perfect. The idea that the patch and app would do all the hard work for me was also very appealing.I was concerned about the patch and whether it would hold or not, I am quite active and go to the gym a couple of times a week, but it withstood that without a problem.

It couldn´t have been easier to use, the app told me when to stick the patch, which days were perfect for getting pregnant and confirmed my ovulation. I ovulated 2 days later than I would have expected but thankfully the app told me to keep trying and confirmed my ovulation 2 days later – otherwise I would have missed it!

How long did you use femSense?

I used one packet, 3 patches, and I don´t need to buy any more. I am 3 months pregnant!

Congratulations! That´s great news. You are one of our femSense success stories.

I certainly am. I want to shout it from the roof tops. It only took 3 cycles with femSense to finally have that longed for positive pregnancy test. I am just so happy!

That´s great news, congratulations! So, would you use femSense again or recommend it to a friend?

Defintely! I won´t just recommend it to a friend I´ll recommend it to anyone who will listen to me! femSense was a game changer for us, I didn´t know enough about my own cycle until I started using femSense and wouldn´t have known when I ovulated without it. Hopefully we will have a second baby and I will have my patches ready when we decide the time is right. In the meantime, I will continue to track my cycle and listen to my body. It is amazing what your body is capable of and what it can tell you when you listen carefully.
